And this is also part of just the growth that happens that I've recognised that that happens in individuals. This is something that has happened to me. And I want to share actually, there was a on my LinkedIn page and I like posting a lot on LinkedIn. I think I've not been a I'm not hitting that. Like I really do like posting on LinkedIn. There was a video that I posted not too long ago and it was it was a it was around Grant Cardone. So Grant Cardone had this this video and he was talking about, you know that he was talking about what he was doing with his income tax and being able to legally not pay any income tax, which I think is sounds pretty awesome. When you are able to legally not pay income tax or minimise that as much as possible. I thought about that video and also thought about an interview that I that I was on recently, I was a guest on someone's podcast. And he asked me if I always had an abundant mindset. And the reality is, no, I have not always had an abundant mindset. And the reason for that is, you know, the way that I grew up, and I've talked about this before, like I watched my parents work multiple jobs, I watched them struggle at the end of the month. And that was not a thing that was very fun. Like as a kid watching your parents struggle to make ends meet is never ever fun. But because my parents were also very dedicated to making sure that me and my brother and sister had access to excellent education. While we were especially as we got older, like middle school in high school, we got into the school districts that were like it was public school, right. But it was very nice school district great education. And also to because the the friends some of the friends and acquaintance acquaintances Say that three times fast that I saw our friends, that acquaintances that had the brand new cars at 16 years old and stuff like that. What that did to me, and I didn't recognise it at the time is I had a very much a scarcity mindset. Like I thought that more for them less for me. And so inside, there was a positive thing that happened, which was it motivated me to continue to go out and work and work really hard, like I saw my parents doing because I wanted to be able to get things, right things. The the negative part of that was, I thought that in order for me to win that somebody else had to lose, and so not really recognising that I took some of that into my adult life. And I started to do that and manifests itself as I was, as I was working like I was doing things in a certain way. And I wanted other people to do them in the exact same way because I wanted the same results like as a as a young manager at the time because that was my mindset. I realised that it was I was a young leader. I wanted I was micromanaging. Like I wanted everybody to do things my way because I wanted the result for me. Well, one of my really really good friends on a mic who has who has been a major influence on me in terms of being able to To learn about leadership also helped me to start to realise like, Hey, listen, it's also about focusing, more importantly, on creating the right environment for the individuals that you're with, right going into the leadership thing. So I took that into my adult life. And I started recognising that when I started focusing on others, purely focusing on others, helping them to create the environment that they needed to succeed, I started realising that results were beginning to happen, right? So so one of the things that I realised is that, as I started to be able to give generously and do it in a way that was serving other people, then I realised that hey, listen, there were also positive results that were coming. So I learned this in my in my corporate career, I recognise when I was doing things one way that it wasn't necessarily bringing the results that I was looking for, I started focusing on others. And also I started understanding that and being exposed to more people, and as I was in my corporate career, that were also what I consider to be wealthy. In the beginning, I looked at it and I realised that there was I was thinking financially, but then I also recognised that there's a lot more that goes to being wealthy than just money. There's a great book that was written, I read this book, and I can't remember the name of it actually be doing it, oh, prosper. There's a great book called prosper, that, that I read, and actually goes into a number of different types of capital that create wealth, like your social capital, and also your your health and things like that. So wealth is not just about money. But the more that I was exposed to people that I consider to be truly wealthy, and I started to develop relationships with them. The thing that I started recognising was, the people that were the wealthiest actually have this same very similar type of approach that I learned later on in my leadership in my corporate career, which was really being more generous, being more giving, and in working to help others. And so what I realised is that early on, I learned the work ethic, the drive, and I was doing that. But it was very much from pretty much a selfish perspective, because I was trying to get more things. But as I realised that it's also more importantly, about how can I do things in a way that are looking to help others to drive value for others. And then as a result, helping them to achieve what they want to achieve, it's also helped put me in a position where also, I've been able to really start to understand what it is to be wealthy. And that means being able to me being able to be in control of my time to invest my time, my energy, with the people that I love the most being able to not have to ask someone else for time away, or time off and things like that, although I didn't usually I have a really big challenge with that in my corporate career, but it's just a different feeling to now know that. Having the ability to make the decisions to invest the time and energy where where I feel it's the most appropriate is one of the things that I really, really understood. So I'm saying all this because as I think about that video, and I think about the question, when I was asked like, dude, have I always been abundant? Well, no, I haven't always been abundant. I haven't always had an abundant mindset. But I started realising and through exposure to other people, I realised that hey, listen, those things that I thought early on, in my life, like in order to have more than I had, if I got more, someone else got less, then you don't, that's not really the mindset, have an abundant mindset. And you can realise that this is an extremely abundant place that there's more than enough for everyone. And so I can do my part, to continue to spread the abundant mindset to help others achieve the things that they want to be able to achieve. And at the same time, being able to be in a position where I am also able to invest in use my time or invest my time in the place in the ways that makes the most sense for me. So I started realising that I didn't want to hate on the players, I started learning the game, that goes back to the video. So if you want to check out that video, you can actually check it out on LinkedIn. It's probably by the time you're listening to this, it will be you can be really easy to go check out in my in my posts, you can find it there.
